Victoria Edgar
Victoria Edgar was born in Montreal on July 29, 1953. Since 1985, she is the technical director of the A.L.R.G (l'Atelier- Libre de la Guilde Graphique) and has been working in etching for the past ten years.
First engraver, VICTORIA EDGAR is also exploring drawing, collage, painting and carving.
"Etching has been the focus of my work for several years. The language of etching - biting, scraping, filing, working on several levels - is as provocative as the variety of elemental materials used : water, Fire (acid), metal, paper."
"I work with information from memory, photography or direct observation into narrative forms, immediate single images or constructions of images."
"I am interested in Continuity : its appearance and its fact, in the ways things go together, in the way things are perceived to make sense."
Works of VICTORIA EDGAR belong to many private collections in Canada, United States and in Europe such as Air Canada, Ahuntsic College, CEGEPS' federation, Loto-Quebec, Quantum, Remax, Teleglobe Canada, T.M.M.M. Communication. and many other institutions.
